DAVAO – Princess Superal closed out with a two-under par 70 for 54 points to win by a whopping 10 shots over Yuka Saso and wrap up a Southern Ladies’ Open hat-trick at the Apo Golf Club on Friday.

The 16-year-old Superal broke par over three rounds to tally 171 points in the event presented by the MVP Sports Foundation - a fitting follow-up to her triumph in the US Girls’ Junior championship in Arizona.

She played true to form as her earlier rounds of 58 and 57 points established firm control of the field.

Saso returned 50 points for the best finish in her young career while Sofia Chabon clung to third spot after a 55 for 155, with Sam Martirez pocketing fourth at 147 after shooting a closing 48.

Abegail Arevalo, who opened up with 51 points to be in third spot going into the second day, sealed Team The Country Club’s sweep of the top five places by finishing another point behind Martirez after a closing 51.

Gendel Dela Cerna also completed a wire-to-wire conquest in Class A action of the event forming part of the PLDT Amateur Group and backed by the Philippine Sports Commission and Casino Filipino-Davao.

Dela Cerna fired 51 points in the final round and won over Irene Shinmura by 19 points.

Shinmura, who trailed the eventual champion every round, struggled to post 42 points. The Class B crown went to Virgie Hermiston, who totalled 112, with Cecille Co finishing second seven points behind.
