MIA PICCIO, fresh from an impressive stint in the first stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, and former SEA Games gold medalist Chihiro Ikeda have signed up for the ICTSI Wack Wack Ladies Philippine Golf Tour teeing off Tuesday.
Piccio finished in joint third in a field of 245 in the LPGA eliminations at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
Now all eyes will be on her in the 54-hole championship at Wack Wack serving as the fourth leg of the five-stage circuit put up by International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
Ikeda, who placed second to Dottie Ardina in the Canlubang leg last June, has also confirmed her participation after skipping last month’s Eagle Ridge stop dominated by Cyna Rodriguez.
Rodriguez will try to score a second straight championship and match Ardina’s back-to-back title romps at The Country Club and in Canlubang.
Ardina, meanwhile, has opted to stay in the US and prepare for Stage Two of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in Florida next month.
Also among the players to watch in the tournament offering a top prize of P100,000 are former Philippine Ladies Open champions Jayvie Agojo, Heidi Chua and Mary Grace Estuesta.
Former amateur stalwarts Lovelynn Guioguio and Sarah Ababa are also seeing action along with Tracy Que, Reb Bareng, Lina de Guzman, Apple Fudolin, Lucy Landicho, Barsy Leonen, Eva Minoza Marjorie Pulumbarit, Jan Punzalan and Sylvia Torres.
Amateur Princess Superal, the spearhead of Team ICTSI and a silver medal winner in the recent Asian Youth Games, looks to humble the pros after placing second at TCC and third in Canlubang leg of the circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and backed by Nike Golf, Pacsports, Gatorade, Sharp and Custom Clubmakers.
The other amateurs vying in the tournament are Felicia Medalla and Harmie Constantino.
