THE Philippine Golf Tour finale is set with the ICTSI Players Championship teeing off on Tuesday at the Summit Point Golf Club in Lipa, Batangas.
Focus will be on money leader Clyde Mondilla, winner of three tournaments this year including the ICTSI Rivera Classic of the PGT Asia Tour two weeks ago.
Mondilla is the top favorite in the 75-player field at Summit Point, with the players occupying the next three spots on the PGT money list seeing action abroad.
Tony Lascuna and Miguel Tabuena are playing in the Taiwan Masters, while Que is seeing action in the Japan PGA Tour.
Mondilla start on Tuesday with Zanieboy Gialon and Jhonnel Ababa at the par-72 Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed layout featuring replicas of 18 renowned golf holes in the world.
“Clyde has the edge on long courses because of his power. But at Summit Point, we’re pretty even off the tee, so I think it will boil down to who putts well in the end,” said Gialon, seeking a follow-up to his runaway victory at ICTSI Calatagan in June.
Jay Bayron, winner at Summit Point in 2015 and No. 9 on teb money list, is also tipped to contend for the crown as he sets out with No. 8 Michael Bibat and PGTA Splendido leg winner and No. 7 Rene Menor.
Meanwhile, the next PGT Asia Tour leg will be held Nov. 15 to 18 at Wack Wack, while Luisita will host the fifth stop Nov. 29 to Dec. 2.
