Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the local golf scene has not only endured but thrived, transforming into a dynamic multi-circuit with the addition of the Philippine Golf Tour Asia (PGTA).

The three-section tour, including the PGT, Ladies PGT, and the foreign-inclusive PGTA, faced a temporary hiatus during the global health crisis.

However, the post-pandemic era marked a remarkable resurgence with 10 successful tournaments held across the country's championship courses, showcasing a blend of seasoned campaigners and emerging talents.

Match play ends season

The climax of the 2023 season witnessed a strategic shift to the thrilling match play format, providing a fitting conclusion to an intense and fiercely competitive season.

A diverse array of winners, both in the PGT and Ladies PGT, highlighted the harmonious blend of talent.

The season also prioritized junior-level development through the innovative Junior PGT, featuring a unique drive, chip, and putt competition alongside regular 18-hole stroke play tournaments.

Ababa, Uy win Order of Merit

Both players attributed their success to hard work and focus, serving as compelling testaments to the qualities that lead to golfing triumphs.

PGTI executive director Narlene Soriano lauded the players' commitment to excellence and acknowledged the public's role in creating an energetic atmosphere in each competition.

The year concluded with a compelling match play championship at The Country Club, where Miguel Tabuena and Mikha Fortuna emerged victorious in the men's and women's finals, respectively.
