Fresh from her stint on the Epson Tour, Pauline del Rosario is making the most of the hiatus before the LPGA’s developmental league resumes on April 26. She's set to lead the field in the upcoming ICTSI Caliraya Springs Championship, kicking off on April 9 at the Caliraya Springs Golf Club in Cavinti, Laguna.
After her solid performance, tying for 26th in the Atlantic Beach Classic in Florida a few weeks back, del Rosario views this break as a prime opportunity to reengage with the local golf scene and reignite rivalries in the P1 million championship organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
Pauline excited over 4-week break
"Being back home during the four-week break from the (Epson) Tour is truly exciting and fulfilling. Making the cut in the first three tournaments of the season, including my inaugural Top 10 finish, feels great," del Rosario expressed, referring to her joint 10th effort in the IOA Golf Classic last month.
No stranger to success, del Rosario, who also clinched a wire-to-wire victory in last year’s edition of the 54-hole tournament sponsored by ICTSI, is gearing up for another close battle next week.
She faces tough competition from contenders like Sarah Ababa and Harmie Constantino, winners of the first two LPGT legs in Davao, alongside others such as Lois Kaye Go, Mafy Singson, Chihiro Ikeda, Florence Bisera, and Laurea Duque, all poised to challenge her title defense.
"Sticking to my regular practice routines, I'm focused on maintaining confidence and momentum going forward," del Rosario shared, adding to her anticipation for the upcoming challenge. Notably, she made history as the first Filipina to win on the Taiwan Ladies PGA Tour during her rookie pro season in 2017.
Meanwhile, Ababa rallied to a victory over Singson by two strokes in the Apo Golf Classic, while Constantino staged an impressive comeback from five strokes down to claim victory over Ababa and Ikeda in the Rancho Palos Verdes Championship.
LK Go eyes comeback
Looking to bounce back from her final round challenges at Palos Verdes, Go is determined to convert her learnings into success. Reflecting on her pro debut experience, she emphasized the importance of patience and capitalizing on opportunities rather than succumbing to frustration. Despite leading in the final round, she ended up tied for fourth.
Joining the title hunt in the tournament supported by PGTI official apparel Kampfortis Golf are Marvi Monsalve, Miya Legaspi, Gretchen Villacencio, Annika Cedo, Rev Alcantara, Apple Fudolin, Kristine Fleetwood, Pamela Mariano, and Velinda Castil.
