A week after a second-place finish in Okinawa, Juvic Pagunsan missed the cut in Chiba.
Last year’s top money earner on the Asian Tour and now hoping to make a mark on the Japan Tour, Pagunsan came up with a second-round 81 in the Bridgestone Open on Friday at the Sodegaura Country Club.
The 15-over 157 total put him in the bottom of the standings and out of the weekend play.
Pagunsan had a quintuple-bogey on the par-4 No. 14 and never recovered, getting to the turn at six over then struggling to a four-over score at the front nine.
Sushi Ishigaki scored his second straight 68 and shares the lead at six-under 136 with Hiroyuki Fujita, who shot a 72, and Yusaku Miyazato, who carded a 66.
They are one stroke clear of Toru Taniguchi, Kazuhiro Yamashita and Kyoung-Hoon Lee.
