Zanieboy Gialon moves four strokes clear at Wack Wack before play is suspended due to rain
Zanieboy Gialon comes up with a five-under 67 in tough condition at Wack Wack East.

ZANIEBOY Gialon came up with a solid start with three birdies and went on to card a five-under 67 for a four-stroke lead before second-round play was suspended due to rains on Thursday in the P3.5 million ICTSI Open Championship at Wack Wack’s East layout in Mandaluyong City.

The organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. suspended play at 4:30 p.m., with nine flights still to complete play.

Gialon was at 139, while Miguel Tabuena was four strokes off after firing a 69.

Gialon hit back-to-back birdies from No. 13 to recover from a bogey on the 11th.

“I also had six birdies in the first round but struggled with my putting. It’s a good thing that my stroke clicked today,” said Gialon.

The 26-year-old Davaoñeo shotmaker is looking to score a follow-up to his last victory in the storm-hit ICTSI Royal Northwoods last year.

“I would say that I was just able to put the ball on good spots off the tee. And in the three times that I missed the fairway, I made good recovery shots and putted well,” added Gialon, who headed straight to the range after his round.

Tabuena, who has two wins this season, birdied Nos. 2, 5 and 9.
