Yuka Saso carries three-stroke lead into final round of Philippine Junior Amateur Open
A 72 was enough for Yuka Saso to maintain distance from her pursuers.

YUKA Saso bucked a shaky start for a 72 to keep her three-shot lead intact after the third round of the Philippine Junior Amateur Open Golf Championship on Thursday at Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

Harmie Constantino, winner of the NGAP national stroke play crown early this year, also shot a 72 and remained three behind at 214.

Korea’s Hwang Min Jeong came up with a 76 for a 224, Mikha Fortuna shot a 78 for a 225 total and Ashia Nocum stood at 238 after an 80.

In men’s play, Ryan Monsalve had a 72, moving from three strokes down to three clear at 218.

Monsalve gunned down two birdies against the same number of bogeys in the heat as Tim Kim shot a 78.

Kim suffered a triple-bogey on the par-4 17th and wound up with a 221 total.

Lanz Uy carded a 74 for joint third at 228 with Ira Alido, who shot an 81.

Meanwhile, Rupert Zaragosa carded a 76 for a 223 and a six-shot lead over Airon Sorino (75-229) in the 18-and-above special division of the event organized and conducted by the National Golf Association of the Philippines and sponsored by the MVP Sports Foundation, Smart, PLDT and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and hosted by Sherwood Hills Golf Club.

Florence Bisera is 22 strokes clear in the girls’ 13-and-below group, with a 54-hole score of 237 after a third-round 77. Sunshine Zhang shot an 83 for a 259, while Laia Barro turned in an 84 for a 264 in the PLDT Group National Amateur Golf Tour event.
