Pauline del Rosario, Princess Superal earn medalist honors in US Women's Amateur Four Ball
Pauline del Rosario comes up with another solid round with partner Princess Superal.

PAULINE del Rosario and Princess Superal earned medalist honors in the 2016 US Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship on Sunday in Florida (Monday, Manila time), firing a second straight 66 to set the low 36-hole record in the tournament.

The Filipinas went bogey-free on the second day and posted a two-day total of 12-under-par 132 at Streamsong Resort, eclipsing the record 133 by Kendall Griffin and Athena Yang in last year’s inaugural championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon.

2014 US Women’s Amateur champion Kristen Gillman and 2015 US Women’s Amateur runner-up Sierra Brooks fired a 69 for second spot at 10-under 134.

The tournament now shifts to five rounds of match play, with an 18-hole final.

The first-round matchups were still to be finalized at posting time.

Superal, the 2014 US Junior Girls Amateur champion, capped their round with a six-foot birdie putt.

“Princess’ last putt was very important,” Del Rosario told

“(Going bogey-free) was our goal today,” added Superal.

Sofia Chabon and Mikhaela Fortuna, the other Philippine pair in the event, added a 68 to their opening 72 for 18th spot.

They take on Alyssa Lamoureux and Alexa Pano, who also had a 140 total with rounds of 68-72.
