Luisita marks triumphant return to Fil-Am golf with sweep of senior titles
Luisita's seniors team celebrates the Fil-Am golf double.

BAGUIO CITY – Luisita Golf & Country Club completed a triumphant return to the Fil-Am Invitation Golf Tournament - and a grand slam of sorts in the two biggest amateur team competitions in the country.

“Mission accomplished," said Luisita team captain Jeric Hechanova after his Fil Championship team romped off with the crown at the Camp John Hay golf course even as the Am squad avoided a meltdown and staved off CJH at the Baguio Country Club layout.

Eddie Bagtas had a tournament-best four-under card for 40 points and Rodel Mangalubnan churned in a two-under for 38 points to power Luisita to a closing 141 and a 507 total for a 30-point win in the Fil Championship over Manila Southwoods.

“We expected that,” Hechanova said.

Jingy Tuazon collected 34 points and Chito Laureto submitted a 29 as Luisita tamed the John Hay course in a fitting follow-up to its victory in the PAL Interclub title earlier this year.

Raul Minoza had an even-par for 36 points to pace Southwoods’ 122 for a 477 total. The other scorers for the team were Bong Sison (34), Judd Roy (29) and Sang Jin Lee (19).

Minoza had a two-under total for 146 on rounds of 36, 35, 39 and 36, to take the individual title.

Megafiber had 107 points and 437 total to stay at third place.
