Ladies Philippines Golf Tour kicks off with two tournaments co-sanctioned by Taiwan tour

The ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour goes international again with its first two legs serving as part of the Taiwan LPGA Tour, guaranteeing another crack international rosters for the twin events set at Splendido and Manila Southwoods.

Korean Hwang Ye Nah nipped local amateur ace Princess Superal by one for the inaugural ICTSI Ladies Open at Southlinks last year. This year’s ICTSI Champion Tour at Splendido presented by Champion Infinity and Taiwan LPGA is slated March 9-11 at the wind-raked Splendido Taal Golf Club in Tagaytay.

Recognizing the growing status of the LPGT in the region, the Taiwan LPGA has also made the next LPGT leg at Southwoods part of its circuit. The ICTSI Champion Tour at Manila Southwoods presented by Champion Infinity and Taiwan LPGA will be held on March 16-18 at the Legends Course in Carmona, Cavite.

The LPGT events, serving as the sixth and seventh legs of the 22-stage Taiwan LPGA, offer a total prize fund of $75,000 each.

That ensures a slam-bang action along with the rest of the LPGT schedule, now stretched to 10 legs, the biggest thus far in the four-year old circuit organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

“We take pride in hosting two Taiwan LPGA Tour legs which only underscores the LPGT’s emerging status as one of the circuits to play in the region,” said PGTI general manager Colo Ventosa. “The twin events will also give our local players the chance to measure up to their foreign counterparts and at the same time raise of the level of play here.”

After Splendido and Southwoods, action in the LPGT resumes with the ICTSI Beverly Place Classic on April 27-29 at the Beverly Place Golf Club in Pampanga to be followed by the ICTSI EagleSend Ridge Ladies Invitational on May 11-13 at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Cavite and the ICTSI LPGT Championship on June 29-July 1 at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

The Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas will host the sixth leg on Aug. 24-26 with Sherwood Hills Golf Club, also in Cavite, staging the seventh leg on Sept. 6-8 followed by the ICTSI Eastridge Ladies Invitational at the Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal on Sept. 28-30 and the ICTSI Royal Northwoods Ladies Challenge on Oct. 25-27 at the Royal Northwoods Golf Club in San Rafael, Bulacan.

The final leg will be held on Nov. 22-24 at a venue still to be announced.
