Early face-off for Jobim Carlos, Clyde Mondilla as PGT action starts at Forest Hills
Jobim Carlos looks to score a PGT win at Forest Hills after falling just short at Eastridge.

FOCUS will be on the group of Clyde Mondilla, Jay Bayron and Jobm Carlos as the ICTSI Forest Hills Championship gets going on Wednesday in Antipolo.

The grouping pits the playoff protagonists at Eastridge, with Mondilla looking to take control early and set himself up for another win and the rookie Carlos hoping finish on top this time after that loss in extra holes.

Mondilla, the 23-year-old Del Monte star, is eyeing his third title on the Philippine Golf Tour.

Tony Lascuña, winner at Luisita and Eagle Ridge, has been grouped with Joenard Rates and Dutchman Guido Van der Valk.

“I feel good and I like my chances here,” said Lascuña, who finished joint 11th in the Queen’s Cup in Thailand on Sunday.

“It will be anybody’s race but a good start is key to build some momentum. The course is tough but with the right approach, one can still score low here,” said Lascuña.

Forest Hills is hosting a PGT leg for the first time in six years and 77 players will battle it out  for the top prize of P360,000 purse in the eighth leg of the circuit sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Philippine Golf Tournaments, Inc.

Mars Pucay won at Forest Hills in 2010 but the former national champion has been struggling, last winning at the tough Southlinks in Alabang two years ago while turning in just one Top 10 place finish in the first seven legs this season.

Pucay starts with Mhark Fernando and Korea’s Hwang Kang Youl in the tournament backed by Custom Clubmakers, adidas, KZG, Summit Mineral Water, Srixon, Pacsports, TaylorMade, Sharp and Champion.
