Dottie Ardina still alone on top as rain reduces Symetra Classic to 36 holes

THE Symetra Clasic has been reduced to a 36-hole tournament, with Dottie Ardina of the Philippines still alone on top of the leaderboard when second-round play was suspended due to heavy rains on Friday in North Carolina (Saturday, Manila time).

Ardina has yet to start her second round when play at River Run Country Club was halted, and she remained the leader at three-under after firing a 69 in the opening round.

The Filipina will start her second round on No. 10 on Saturday.

Clariss Guce, a Filipina from Artesia, California, is four under through seven holes and one-under for the tournament.

Jenny Haglund was three under through 12 holes inteh second round and two-under for the tournament, while fellow Swede Louise Ridderstrom is three under through nine and is also two-under for the week.

“A tropical storm system came up from the Gulf and has hit us with a little over three inches of rain,” said Tiffany Priest, the Symetra Tour’s Advance Rule Official for the Symetra Classic.

“Unfortunately, we had to suspend play to let the course drain. We couldn’t finish all the rounds today and still have the whole afternoon wave to get out on the course.”
