TWO-TIME Philippine Open champion Frankie Minoza showed he still got game, albeit in the higher age class, with victory in the Japan Senior Open on Sunday.

Minoza birdied two of the first three holes in the final round en route to a 71 and a 284 total that gave him a one-stroke victory over Kiyoshi Murota (72), Tsuneyuki Nakajima (72) and Koki Idoki (73) at the Higashinagoya Country Club West Course in Aichi.

The 52-year-old Filipino suffered bogey on No. 6 and traded a birdie for a bogey on the back nine for what turned out to be the best score of the day, with only two others scoring 71.

Boonchu Ruangkit of Thailand had a closing 73 for a 288 total and solo fifth place, while Barry Lane of England had a 78 for a 291 aggregate and sixth place.

Minoza bagged ¥16,000,000 (around P8.2 million), while Murota, Nakajima, and Idoki pocketed ¥6,320,000 each (around P3.2 million).

The two-time Philippine Open champion, winner of seven events during a long career on the regular Japan Tour, had earlier rounds of 69-72-72.
