MIGUEL Tabuena could not a buy a single birdie in the second round of LIV Golf and shot his second straight 3-over-par 73 heading into the weekend of the no-cut LIV Golf Korea at the Asiad Country Club in Busan.
At six over par, the 31-year-old playing wild card is third to last at 55th spot in the 57-man field after two rounds and will need to dig deep in his arsenal to move upward and improve on his last outing held in the US where he finished tied for 26th at LIV Golf Virginia.
Tabuena had a bogey and a double bogey Friday after making three putts on the 14th hole from 39 feet.
Gooch sets pace
This round can be said to be less topsy-turvy than the first round where Tabuena, whose last outing netted him more than P11 million after finishing solo 25th, had four birdies, a double bogey and three birdies.
Talor Gooch shot a 7-under-par 63 to seize the lead from fellow American Bryson DeChambeau who scored 2-under-par 68.
Gooch, winner of three legs since competing in 2023, is 8 under at 132 while DeChambeau, who co-led the event with two others after the first round, was a stroke back.
Five players were tied 5 under, led by former Open champion Cameron Smith of Australia, who had a second round 2-under-par 68. Also at minus 5 were first round co-leaders Scott Vincent and Charles Howell III, Joaquin Nieman and Thomas Pieters.
