MIGUEL Tabuena’s LIV Golf dream is turning into a nightmare.
Tabuena shot a third round two-over-par 72, dumping him into a tie for 19th placein the 22-man field and virtually eliminating him from earning one of three spots in the LIV Promotions event.
The Filipino star, one of the favorites to capture one the of full-season spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League, was unable to take advantage of the reset where the top 22 players after the second round advanced to the 36-hole finals, all of them starting from scratch.
COLUMN: Miguel Tabuena takes another crack at LIV Golf
Tabuena had finished tied for last during the second round at one-under-par 69 to qualify, but could not find the game that was sharp and steady in winning the International Series Philippines last November.
He was three over after nine holes shooting one birdie against four bogeys. He birdied the par-5 16th to finish at two-over, but that’s 8 strokes behind the leader who was 6 under for the day, and 6 strokes behind three players tied for second at 4 under.
This may appear surmountable for Tabuena but he must beat at least 17 players to gain one of three spots. And that may need a miracle for it to happen.

Canadian Richard Lee shot a 64 to lead the field while Oliver Bekker, Jazz Janewattananond, and Anthony Kim scored 66 to share second place.
Kim, who played in LIV Golf last season but was relegated, managed to sneak into the 36-hole field with a birdie on the final hole on Friday and now has a big chance to get back in with his fine play Saturday.
