Miguel Tabuena salvaged a four-over-par 76 at wind-swept The Country Club in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Wednesday to keep a four-shot lead over veteran Tony Lascuna halfway through TCC Invitational.
“Today (yesterday) was tough for myself and I believe for everyone... But it’s also a regular day at TCC at this time of the year,” said Tabuena who has a 36-hole total of 4-under-par 140.
Gusty winds sent scores soaring as Tabuena failed to make a single birdie after a nine-birdie showing in the first round that accounted for his opening 64. He made six bogeys.
He, however, got a lucky break on the par-5 10th hole when his bunker shot went in for eagle.
Tabuena, not making any adjustments in equipment despite the blustery conditions, acknowledged that he may have overthought the wind but expressed confidence in the shots he wanted to execute.

Lascuña, too, grappled with the challenging backside, carding a 74 for a total of 144.
The winds wreaked havoc on the scores, turning the competition into a true examination of the players' abilities to navigate difficult conditions.
“Grabe ang kondisyon, ang hirap. Pero pipilitin natin,” said Lascuna who lost to Tabuena in the ICTSI Match Play.
