MIGUEL Tabuena continued to improve his performance, firing a 3-under par 68 on Saturday in the third round of LIV Golf South Africa. Unfortunately, it did not translate positively in the standings where he dropped to 50th from 47th place.
Tabuena had four birdies against one bogey, not enough to make a surge in his bid for a better placing. In fact, it set him back as the field rained birdies on the hapless The Club Steyn City course that saw 20 players score 6 under or better, including Tom McKibbin who shot a day’s-best bogey-free 9-under par 62.
DeChambeau sets pace
Bryson DeChambeau kept his two-shot lead after a 7-under 64, a score matched by Branden Grace, who stayed in second place, and Jon Rahm and Abraham Ancer, who both moved into a tie for third, three strokes back, also after scoring a 64.
DeChambeau is aiming for a second straight LIV Golf victory after winning last week’s Singapore leg. He is 21 under after three rounds after rounds of 63-65-64 – 192.
Though three shots back, Rahm is expected to be DeChambeau’s main rival for the title and the accompanying $4 million winner’s prize.
Meanwhile, Tabuena’s main concern is to battle fiercely to improve on his best LIV Golf finish of T44th in Adelaide, Australia where he earned $88,500.

In his other outings in Riyadh, Hong Kong and Singapore, the Filipino star settled for the minimum $50,000 (P2.9 million) for players who placed 50th and below in the 57-man field.
It's still good money, but for a professional golfer, there’s no question a good game is much preferred.
