MIA Piccio had a faltering start and came up with a 77 to sit 11 strokes off the lead after the first round of LPGA qualifying Stage II on Tuesday in Venice, Florida (Wednesday, Manila time).
The shotmaker from Bacolod had nines of 40-37 at the Bobcat course at Plantation Golf and Country Club.
Brogan McKinnon, a 19-year-old player from Ontario, set the pace with a 66 at the Panther course.
Celine Herbin of Spain, playing at Bobcat course, and Fabiola Arriaga of Mexico at the Panther course, both shot 69 and shared second spot.
Piccio was tied for 141st and need to bounce back to continue her quest for an LPGA spot.
Stage II of the LPGA qualifying is 72 holes of strokeplay with no cut.
The top 80 and ties will advance to Stage III.
