TONY Lascuna, twice a winner already this year, and other leg champions lead the cast in the ICTSI Manila Masters starting on Tuesday at the Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal.
Leg winners Charles Hong, Elmer Salvador, Rufino Bayron, Jay Bayron and Jun Rates are also seeing action in the second of four P3.5 million events on the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour
Also vyiong for the P650,000 to prize are Angelo Que and Miguel Tabuena.
“It’s going to be anybody’s race since everybody is here and no one holds a clear advantage at Eastridge,” said Lascuna.
“With the event one of the richest and all the big guns competing make the title race all the more interesting.”
With the Asian Tour taking a five-week break, all the top local players are seeing action as well as several foreign players.
Lascuna leads the money list with winnings of P1,287,398 after wins at Eagle Ridge and Valley Golf, while Sherwood winner Hong is second with P936,850.
Salvador, winner at Riviera, has won P912,750, while Orchard champion Rufino Bayron is in fourth with P761,628 followed by brother and Splendido champion Jay Bayron with P720,345.
Teen pro Micah Shin, who placed second to Hong, has racked up earnings of P571,136, while John Hay winner Rates has earned P507,274. Marvin Dumandan has P499,865, followed by Jhonnel Ababa with P481,324, and Miguel Tabuena with P407,840.
The leading pros will test the par-72 layout in the traditional pro-am tournament on Monday as they play with amateur players and guests of the event’s chief backers including Nike Golf, Pacsports Phils. Inc., Srixon, Callaway, Mizuno, Empire Golf, Footjoy, Titleist, Custom Clubmakers, Sharp and KZG with Balls, ABS-CBN Sports+Action and Inquirer Golf as media partners.
