Sarah Ababa eyes back-to-back titles as LPGT resumes with Luisita Ladies Challenge

    Jul 21, 2015

SARAH Ababa used the long break to improve her short game as she goes for a second straight title when the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour resumes with the Luisita Ladies Challenge on Wednesday at the Luisita Golf and Country Club in Tarlac.

“It’s all range and improving my short game. I didn’t really have the chance to familiarize myself with the course but this is definitely long and the greens are tough to read,” said Ababa, who scored her first LPGT title at Sherwood last month.

Four players from Thailand are entered in the P500,000 tournament, the sixth leg of the eight-stage ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

Chamchoi Saraporn hopes to finally make it all the way to the top after second-place finishes at Splendido and Wack Wack. She starts the tournament with Lina de Guzman and Eva Miñoza.

Amolkan Phalajivin, winner last year at Splendido tees off with Lucy Landicho and Cristina Corpus of the US.

Pattaranakrueang Supakchaya will play the opening round with Apple Fudolin and Ababa.

Satarak Walailak has been grouped with Lovelynn Guioguio and Jayvie Agojo.

“I’ll just try to focus on my game and on the course and not on individual players, particularly the Thais,” said Ababa.

The country’s first-ever ladies pro tour, sponsored by ICTSI and backed by Nike Golf, Pacsports, Custom Clubmakers, Sharp and Champion Infinity, goes to Manila Southwoods for the ICTSI Manila Southwoods Ladies Classic from Sept. 2 to 4 before winding up at Valley Golf Club in Antipolo for the ICTSI Valley Ladies Championship from Sept. 20 to Oct. 2.
