Yuka Saso concluded her season on the LPGA Tour, securing seven Top 10 finishes in 22 tournaments, including a runner-up effort in the Women’s PGA Championship last June.
While a victory eluded her, the 2021 US Women’s Open champion emphasizes the paramount importance of staying injury-free throughout the demanding season.
Saso focuses on well-being
Saso, backed by ICTSI, has prioritized maintaining physical well-being since her breakthrough a couple of years ago, focusing on consistent solid performances, numerous Top 10 finishes, and participation in all major tournaments.
Acknowledging the inevitable ups and downs of the season, Saso expresses contentment with her overall performance, highlighted by finishing in the Top 20 in the money ranking at the CME Group Tour Championship, where she tied for 23rd. She secured the No. 17 spot in the Race to CME Globe Season.
Earning $1.822 million, Saso concludes the season at No. 9 in the money rankings, with world No. 1 Lilia Vu leading on the strength of victories in two majors.
Looking forward to the next season, Saso is committed to improving her game through consistent practice. Her dedication to her practice routine remains unchanged, focusing on continuous hard work and repetition.
Saso to skip first two events
In a departure from her previous schedule, the Tokyo Olympics veteran plans to skip the first two LPGA events in January to better prepare for the challenges ahead.
Saso aims to play in all the majors and emphasizes her goal of being better prepared for the upcoming season.
Expressing her desire to compete in the 2024 Paris Games, Saso faces strong competition from the Japanese contingent but remains optimistic about her chances. With an eye on gaining valuable points in ranking LPGA tournaments, she maintains a week-by-week approach, focusing on each tournament and staying in the moment to secure a spot in the Quadrennial Games.
