Late birdie binge helps Alessandra Nagayo salvage par for 13th spot after two rounds of IMG World Juniors

Alessandra Nagayo climbed to 13th place thanks to a late birdie binge. 

DAVAO'S Alessandra Christine Nagayo birdied the last three holes to salvage par and move to a share of 13th spot in the girls 11-12 division after two rounds of the 2016 IMG Academy World Junior Golf Championships.

Nagayo suffered bogeys on holes No. 10, 11 and 15 at Bernardo Heights course but found her rhythm on the back nine.

She opened her round with a bogey on the first hole but quickly recovered with birdie on the par-5 No. 2. Nagayo suffered another bogey on No. 7 but birdied the last hole on the front nine.

Nagayo was six over after 36 holes.

Borina Sutikto of Fremont, California took the solo lead after second straight 3-under-par 69 and for a 148 total. Tusabasa Kajitani of Japan is in close second at 149.

Zeus Sara, a,nother Davaoeno golfer, had a 10 over par round on Wednesday for a +16 total and a tie for 52nd place, 26 shots adrift.

The IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships drew 1200 players from 54 countries.
