Tony Lascuna is the best-placed Filipino after one round in India.

ANTONIO Lascuna fired a one-under 71 and sat five strokes off the provisional lead in Wednesday’s opening round of the Sail-SBI Open in India.

Lascuna, the top money earner on the Philippine Golf Tour last season, had two birdies and a bogey on the outward nine and made par on all nine holes going back.

Chapchai Nirat of Thailand hit eight birdies and made two bogeys to take the top spot on the leaderboard at 66, while Chan Kim of the US was second at five under at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi.

Elmer Salvador traded two bogeys for two birdies for an even par round.

Jay Bayron, who topped the Asian Development Tour Order of Merit last season to gain full playing rights on the Asian Tour this year, hit two birdies and three bogeys for a 73.
