Rejuvenated Tony Lascuna hopes to keep the momentum after two fruitful weeks as action in the Philippine Golf Tour resumes on Wednesday with the Eastridge Classic at the Eastridge Golf and Country Club course in Binangonan, Rizal.
Lascuna snapped a four-year winless spell by topping the Eagle Ridge Invitational two weeks ago then helped power Team South past their North counterparts in the inaugural Duel – North vs South showdown at Alabang Country Club last week.
“I feel good and confident of my chances at Eastridge. But with so many good players around, it will be tough,” said Lascuna, who closed with a 66 at Eagle Ridge to finally score a win after four runner-up finishes last year.
Among the players to watch in the fifth leg of the series is Jay Bayron, who is hoping to make up for a final-round fold-up at Eagle Ridge where he blew a five-stroke lead with a closing 77.
Also eyeing the top prize of P200,000 is Angelo Que, who will be playing his first local event after the North-South duel, and fellow Asian Tour campaigners Miguel Tabuena, winner of the Splendido leg, Artemio Murakami, Mars Pucay and Elmer Salvador, who ruled the Sherwood stage last month.
The 76-player field also features Marvin Dumandan, the runaway winner at John Hay; Jhonnel Ababa, who is still in search of his first victory this season after three wins last year; Del Monte leg champion Mhark Fernando, Cassius Casas, Rey Pagunsan, Rufino Bayron, Ferdie Aunzo, Elmer Saban and Jun Bernis.
