TOP local female golfers finally get to play in an organized series on home soil offering financial rewards with the establishment of the ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour.
The ICTSI LPGT tees off next month, with the qualifying event set on Friday and Saturday at the South course of the Canlubang golf complex in Laguna.
The top performers earn playing rights in the five-leg circuit offering a total prize fund of P2.5 million. Players scoring 160 or better after 36 holes in the qualifiers will gain berths to the series organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc. starting with the May 15 to 17 event at The Country Club, also in Laguna.
The ICTSI LPGT will offer P500,000 each leg with the winner getting P100,000.
The ladies pro tour expands International Container Terminal Services Inc.’ involvement in the country’s golf development program. It revived the men’s pro tour in 2009 and this year the tour has lined up 16 tournaments, including eight offering P2.5 million each.
ICTSI is also the chief backer of the Philippine jungolf program with a year-round calendar, and has maintained a pool of female amateur golfers headed by international champions Dottie Ardina, Jayvie Agojo, Cyna Rodriguez and Princess Superal.
Other venues being eyed for the circuit are Wack Wack, Southwoods, Camp John Hay in Baguio and Canlubang with the Asian Ladies Team Championship, an annual event at John Hay, also expected to be included.
Registration fee is P5,000. For details, contact Jocelyn Duque at 0915-7824751 or email email@example.com.
