Juvic Pagunsan moves to joint fifth in Japan PGA Championship

Juvic Pagunsan stands eight strokes off the pace with 18 holes to play.

JUVIC Pagunsan fired a five-under 67 to gain a share of fifth spot after Saturday’s third round of the Japan PGA Championship at the Hokkaido CLassic Golf Club.

The Filipino golfer had seven birdies and two bogeys to get to eight under 208.

Pagunsan, who had earlier rounds of 71-70, stood eight shots behind Toshinori Muto, who shot a 69.

The Filipino shotmaker was three under through nine holes then hit three birdies and a bogey on the back nine.

Tied for second three strokes off at 203 were Hideto Tanihara, who carded a 65, and Korea’s Young Han Song, who submitted a 66.

Han Lee of the US was alone in fourth at 207 after going bogey-free in posting the week’s best 63.

Pagunsan was tied with Yoshitaka Takea, who had a 68, and New Zealand’s Michael Hendry, who fired a 70.
