JUVIC Pagunsan had a sizzling finish to make of for a sluggish start but it was not enough, his closing three-under 68 earning him third place in the Japan Golf Tour’s Token Homemate Cup on Sunday in Nagoya.
The 38-year-old Filipino golfer birdied No. 16 and eagled the 17th to end up at 13-under 271.
Pagunsan, who had earlier rounds of 68-68-67, finished alone in third spot to bag ¥8,840,000 (around P4 million).
The shotmaker from Bacolod entered the final round three strokes off but struggled at the start, suffering a bogey right on the first hole.
The former Asian Tour top money earner was even at the turn before dropping another shot on the par-4 No. 11.
He got to even again with birdie on No. 13 before the sizzling finish.
China’s Liang Wenchong held on to the top spot with a 68 for a 268 total and ¥26,000,000.
Yoshinori Fujimoto fired a closing 65 and took second spot at 270 for ¥13,000,000.
