JOSH Jorge ruled the 6th Oakley Golf Cup boys division, while Mariel Tee topped the girls’ side at Pradera Verde in Lubao, Pampanga.
Jorge fired a 66 and Tee shot a 69 in the tournament held for the benefit of The Junior Golfers League.
The tournament provided a unique experience for the participants with its theme “Rock n Roll Music + Golf,” with different challenges set at different holes such as loud rock music, spotlight and sprinklers.
Oakley donated P100,000 to TJGL.
Raymund Lacdao topped Class A with a net 67, followed by Mike Besa with a net 69 and Allan Umali also with a net 69. James Roy Linao ruled Class B with a net 72, Marlon Dizon had a 72 and Lorenzo dela Paz scored 73. Eric dela Rosa hada net 75 to win Class C, followed by Mathew Lean Mendoza with a 76 and Mark Fowler also with a 76.
Vangie Omlang won the Ladies Division with a net 72, followed by Grace Montilla and Cora Aguinaldo with 73s.
“We’re grateful to Oakley because every year, they support and hold this charity event for TJGL. Out of this tournament, we are able to help kids who are financially incapable but talented,” said TJGL president Chona dela Paz.
“We will utilize the money for partially funding the needed resources of the junior golfers to encourage them more in honing their skills.”
Among the beneficiaries are Jorge and Sean Granada who will represent the country in the IMG Junior Golf in San Diego next month.
“It’s a good initiative for Oakley to help the young ones to enhance their talent and skills in golf. These kids represent our country and it’s good that Oakley was able to help and be a part of achieving their dreams especially in this sport,” said Oakley Marketing Head Louren Lacanlale.
