Agojo, Ikeda head cast in LPGT’s second leg set at Riviera

    Jun 19, 2014

FORMER Philippine Ladies Open champions Jayvie Agojo and Chihiro Ikeda have signed up for the P500,000 ICTSI Riviera Ladies Classic set June 25 to 27 at Riviera’s Couples course.

With Cyna Rodriguez, winner of the kickoff leg at Orchard last April, yet to confirm for the event, Agojo and Ikeda loom as the players to beat in the 54-hole Ladies Philippine Golf Tour event.

Agojo pounced on Ikeda’s final round fold-up to snatch runner-up honors at Orchard, with the former national teammates tipped to renew their rivalry in the circuit now stretched to an eight-leg tour after a successful five-tournament maiden season.

Second in the Order of Merit last season despite failing to win a tournament, Agojo hopes to finally nail the elusive victory next week although she will be up against an equally title-hungry field.

Ikeda, the former SEA Games gold medalist, is looking to bag her a first-ever victory on the domestic circuit sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. after missing several local tournaments last year to see action in Japan.

Also vying for honors are Anya Tanpinco, Reb Bareng, Sarah Jane Ababa, Lovelynn Guioguio, Lina de Guzman, Sylvia Torres, Apple Fudolin, Lucy Landicho, Kristine Leonen, Eva Minoza, Majorie Pulumbarit, Jan Punzalan, Tracy Que and former Philippine Ladies Open winner Mary Grace Estuesta.

Korea’s Kwon Seo Yon and amateurs Vanessa Tsutsui, Ashia Nocum and another Korean Hwang Min Jeong are also playing in the tournament organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and backed by Nike Golf, Pacsports , Custom Clubmakers and Sharp.
