KEANU Jahns fired a two-under-par 70 to take a one-stroke lead in the second round of the 18th WWWExpress-DHL Amateur golf championship presented by the MVP Sports Foundation on Wednesday at Canlubang’s North course in Laguna.
The long-hitting 17-year-old, who started the day five strokes off the lead, hit three birdies and one bogey for a 145 total.
Justin Quiban had the day’s best round of 69 for a 146 aggregate and a share of second spot with former national champion Jik-Jik Abdon and Japanese teenager Gen Nagai, who both fired 74.
First round leader Lloyd Jefferson Go double-bogeyed the fourth and eighth holes and never really got his game going, settling for a 78 for 148.
Wolen Superal matched par for 147, while Rupert Zaragosa had a 73 for a 150 total.
Park Min-ung of of Korea and Chris Mamaril, who were just a stroke off the pace at the start of the round, scored 79 and 80, respectively, in the event also backed by Pancake House, Nike, Pacsports and Golf Depot.
Dottie Ardina scored 71 to lead the women’s field in the PLDT Group Amateur Golf Tour event.
Pauleen Del Rosario and Chanelle Avaricio fired 72s. Abegail Arevalo, the newest recruit in the ICTSI program, returned a 73 to match Princess Superal.
Daniella Uy shot a 78, Harmie Constantino and Korean Jeong Hwang-min both scored 79, and
Lovelyn Guioguio had an 80.
