Tony Lascuna hits two bogeys on the front nine and two on the back at Sheshen International.

TONY Lascuna had a tough start at Sheshan International Golf Club, firing a first-round 76 to leave himself much work to do in the HSBC Champions on Thursday in Shanghai.

The Davaoeno shotmaker, the Philippine Golf Tour’s No. 1 for three straight years, struggled on the narrow fairways and went without a birdie as he had nines of 38-38.

Lascuna was tied for 63rd with Felipe Aguilar of Chile, Michael Hendry of New Zealand and Victor Dubuisson of France and Ze-cheng Dou of China at the start of the final World Golf Championship of the year.

They stood nine strokes off Graeme McDowell, who hit seven birdies against two bogeys for a 5-under-67 and the solo lead.

Rickie Fowler fired a 69 and shared second spot with Brandt Snedeker, Chris Kirk, Tim Clark and Tommy Fleetwood, while Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson were a further stroke back.
