Filipina golfer Regan de Guzman earns LPGA status with top 20 finish in Q-School

FILIPINA amateur golfer Regan de Guzman earned LPGA status with a fine performance in the LPGA Qualifying tournament on Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida (Monday, Manila time).

A fifth-round 72 gave De Guzman a 355 total to finish in the top 20 to earn full status on the LPGA Tour for 2017.

“I had fun,” De Guzman added. “They are really great courses which were very challenging and I loved it. I’m very lucky and grateful to be able to do this.”

Players from 12 other countries made it to the top 20 including Iceland’s Olafia Kristinsdottir, who placed second to Jaye Marie Green of the US.

Green fired a 74 on Sunday to win by one shot over Kristinsdottir to earn full LPGA Tour status.

Dottie Ardina carded a closing 74 and wound up in joint 21st at 357, gaining conditional status by finishing between 21st and tied for 45th.

Clariss Guce finished in 55th place after a 70 for a 364 total.

Princess Superal, Mia Piccio and Cyna Rodriguez missed the cut for the final round featuring the top 70 from the starting field of 156.
