SOUTH Africa’s Ernie Els fired a final-round 68 and won The Open Championship by one stroke as Adam Scott of Australia bogeyed the final four holes for a 75 on Sunday in Lancashire, England.
Els, winner of The Open in 2002 at Muirfield Golf Links, finished at seven-under 273 at Royal Lytham & St Annes, while Scott settled for second place at 274.
Tiger Woods had a 73 for a 277 aggregate and wound up joint third with Brandt Snedeker, who closed with a 74.
Luke Donald scored a final-round 69 and finished tied for fifth with 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell, who fired a 75 for 278.
