DOTTIE Ardina couldn’t get things going in a tough closing round in the Sioux Falls Greatlife Challenge, carding a 73 for a share of 14th on Sunday in South Dakota (Monday, Manila time).
The 24-year-old Ardina was even at the turn but suffered a bogey on the par-3 No. 11 and a double-bogey on the par-3 No. 16 to finish at four-under 276 at Willow Run Golf Course.
It was another heartbreaker for Ardina, who led after the second round and had finished runner-up four times.
The finish was enough, however, for Ardina to retain the top spot in the Race for the Card with five tournaments remaining.
The Filipina shotmaker has earnings of $72,482.
Linnea Ström of Sweden scored a closing 3-under par 67 to take the win at 11-under 269 and lyump from 24th to second in the money list at $58,788.
The top 10 at the end of the Symetra Tour season earn cards to the LPGA.
Charlotte Thomas had a final-round 62 to take third place and rise from 13th to fourth in the Race for the Card.
Pavarisa Yoktuan fired the week’s best 63, going bogey-free on the final day, to finish in joint third at 274 with Fatima Fernandez Cano and Becca Huffer, who shot 66s, and Harang Lee, who shot a 68, and Leona Maguire, who closed with a 70.
