PAULINE del Rosario and Princess Superal came up with fine performances in the first round of match play to advance to the round of 32 of the US Girls’ Junior Championship on Wednesday in Fort Wayne, Indiana (Thursday, Manila time).
Daneilla Uy, however, won’t be joining her compatriots in the next round at Sycamore Hills Golf Club.
Del Rosario, who had a 154 in two rounds of stroke play, chalked up an impressive 6 and 5 win over Kelsey Ulep of Rocklin in California , who had finished joint fifth in the qualifying rounds at 142.
Superal, joint 11th in the strokeplay qualifying with a 145, won 2 and 1 over Youngin Chun (153) of Austin, Texas.
Lakareber Abe of Angleton, Texas overcame Uy 4 and 3.
Del Rosario will next take on Texas’ Cheyenne Knight, who defeated Danielle Lee of La Mirada, California, 6 and 4.
Superal will battle Gabrielle Then of Upland, California, who beat Gabrielle Barker of Idaho 4 and 3.
