CYNA Rodriguez eyes a second straight win on the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour as the Sherwood Ladies Championship gets under way on Tuesday at Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite.
Rodriguez won at Riviera last month, snapping a three-leg slump and getting back on track for another dominant run on the country’s first ladies pro circuit.
“I’ll just try to keep it simple on the course, post low scores and hopefully come out with another win,” said Rodriguez, who will start with title-hungry Chihiro Ikeda and amateur Felicia Medalla.
Thailand’s Amolkan Phalajivin, winner at Splendido last year, is back in the title hunt after skipping the Riviera stage.
Phalajivin, also hoping to bounce back after a joint 19th place finish in the Wack Wack leg won by amateur Princess Superal last April, tees off with Apple Fudolin and amateur Marvi Monsalve.
Two other Thai players were actually set to join the title chase in the event sponsored by ICTSI but begged off at the last minute due to travel document woes and injury. Organizers erlier said Hathaikarn Wongwaikijphaisal and Tiranan Yoopan were set to see action.
Jayvie Agojo also pulled out of the tournament due to wrist injury that has hampered her campaign, but seeing action in the P500,000 event are Anya Tanpinco, Lovelynn Guioguio, Eva Miñoza, Lucy Landicho, Majorie Pulumbarit and Lina de Guzman
Koreans Oh Yeji and Kim So Un and amateurs Koh Eu Na and Hwang Min Jeong along with Sarah Henderson of England and Cristina Corpus of the US also try to finally put together solid games in all three days to contend for the crown and the top prize of P100,000.
