CLYDE Mondilla topped The Players Championship to top the Philippine Golf Tour money list.
Mondilla fired a closing five-under 67 for a winning 17-under 271 at Summit Point Golf Club on Friday in Lipa, two weeks after topping the ICTSI Riviera Classic of the PGT Asia Tour.
The 24-year-old Mondilla bagged P550,000 and ended the PGT season with winnings of P3,156,409.
“I’m so happy, this is a sweet victory and I couldn’t ask for more,” said Mondilla, who also won back-to-back at Manila Southwoods and Villamor last May to complete a four-leg romp in the ninth season of the country’s premier circuit sponsored by ICTSI.
Jerson Balasabas fired a tournament-best eight-under 64 for second place at 274 worth P370,000.
“I was so focused in all four days. When Jerson (Balasabas) made a charge, I didn’t panic since I knew I can handle the situation,” added Mondilla, who birdied the three par-5s and eagled the last on No. 9.
Jay Bayron, winner at Summit Point in 2015, shot a 69 and wound up third at 276 for P215,000.
Orlan Sumcad rallied with a 65 and snatched fourth place at 277 worth P165,000 while Keanu Jahns also fought back with a 67 to tie Dutchman Guido Van der Valk, who carded a 70, at sixth at 278. Each got P122,500.
