LPGA rookie Bianca Pagdanganan continued her solid run, firing a 67 in the second round of the Marathon Classic on Friday in Ohio.
The 22-year-old Pagdanganan, who scored an opening two-under 69, enters the third round at 136, seven strokes off leader Lydia Ko, who added a 65 to her opening 64.
Making her mark by with her big drives the LPGA restart at Inverness, Pagdanganan is displaying a well-balanced game at Highlands Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania. Teeing off on the back nine, she highlighted her round with 10-foot eagle putts on Nos. 17 and 18.
Pagdanganan thus stamped her mark anew in the LPGA in her second start, becoming the second player this season to hit back-to-back eagles, and 23rd known occurrence in the top professional ladies’ tour.
“That's so cool. That's also the first time it's ever happened to me, back to back eagle. I was like, Oh, that's pretty rare,” Pagdanganan said in an LPGA.com report.
“Of course, I just like had to keep my cool throughout the round. Couldn't just let that take over. I was able to calm myself down and just hold on to that.”
Pagdanganan is very pleased to be able to play steady in her first appearances in the LPGA.
“I'm not going to lie. I was a bit nervous coming back into like the competitive mode,” she said.
“For the most part, that's what I love about golf. But not having that for a couple months, I was pretty nervous.”
Pagdanganan is tied with major winner Lexi Thompson, who added a 66 top her opening 70, Carlota Ciganda of Spain and Sophia Popov of Germany.
Dottie Ardina shot a second-round 70 to get to even par and a share of 58th, but Clariss Guce missed the cut after adding a 73 to her opening 71.
