BIANCA Pagdanganan fired a two-under par 69 on Friday to stand five shots behind the joint leaders after one round in the LPGA Marathon Classic at the Highlands Meadows Golf Club in Sylvannia, Ohio.
The Filipina rookie, who established herself as the tour's longest hitter in a joint 28th finish in her debut at last week's Drive On Championship, kept a solid card even if the tight Ohio layout kept her driver mostly in the bag.
The 22-year old used her driver just seven times during the round and stumbled with a rare bogey on a par-5 at the seventh hole. But she made enough putts - needing just 28 in the round - to put herself in good position heading to the next two rounds.
Pagdanganan ended in a tie for 28th spot on a day when 65 players broke par, five shots behind Danielle Kang of the US and former world No. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand who tamed the layout with seven-under cards.
