BIANCA Pagdanganan held her own at the ShopRite LPGA tournament Friday (Saturday in Manila) after firing a first-round 3-under-par 68.
She was tied for 13th place at the Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in New Jersey with six birdies on her card. But she also had three bogeys and was five shots behind the leader.
This event will serve as a significant warmup for the US Open next week where the 28-year-old Filipino star will be playing her first major after winning a qualifying tournament.
Laetitia Beck scored an 8-under-par 63 to take a one-stroke lead in the 54-hole event where many top stars opted out to prepare for the US Open.
Beck rolled in a 6-foot birdie on the final hole to lead new mom Nicole Broch Estrup of Denmark by one, and two strokes over Briana Chacon who holed out from the 16th fairway for eagle — her seventh hole of the round — and was at 65 along with Arpichaya Yubol and Polly Mack.
