JAY Bayron fired 70 to grab a share of fifth spot in the first round of the Panasonic Open India on Thursday in New Delhi.
Last season’s top player on the Asian Development Tour, Bayron came up with four birdies against two bogeys to finish at two-under, just three strokes behind pacesetting Australians Kieran Pratt and Wade Ormsby, who both had bogey-free rounds, and Singapore’s Lam Chih Bing.
SSP Chowrasia was alone in fourth after shooting a 69.
Kieran Pratt hit an eagle on No. 1 and had three birdies on the back nine for a 67 at Delhi Golf Club, while Ormsby matched that 34-33 card with two birdies on the outward nine and three going back.
Lam had nines of 34-33, a bogey on the par-3 No. 12 the only blemish on his card.
Mars Pucay had a rollercoaster 73 featuring five birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey on No. 18.
Teen star Miguel Tabuena fired only one birdie in a 75, suffering a double bogey on the par-5 No. 8 and two bogeys on the back nine.
