ALTHOUGH Derek Jeter is said to be finding golf to be a struggle, he has a swing that can hit the ball flush every now and then, and he made some money from it — from US President Barack Obama.
An avid golfer, Obama revealed he got conned by Jeter, who got serious about golf only after retiring last season, during a round together at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.

“Derek Jeter stole money from me,” said Obama during a fund-raising event on Monday in Las Vegas (Tuesday, Manila time). “And it was clearly a set-up.”
Obama, who is reportedly a 17-handicap, and his partner Stephen Cloobeck saw Jeter struggle at the range.
“I knew Derek, but I hadn’t played golf with him before. And as we got up to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere,” said Obama.
That was in November and Jeter told Obama he started playing just two weeks ago.
It was agreed Jeter would be given 30 strokes.
“And then on the first tee, suddenly the ball just went straight and down the middle of the fairway,” Obama said.
“And we had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of it.”
