DOTTIE Ardina scored a second straight 72 to keep a one-stroke lead, while Sarah Ababa came up with a 69 to move within three strokes after the second round of the 21st SICC-DBS Junior Invitational Golf Championship on Tuesday in Singapore.
The 18-year-old Ardina had three birdies and three bogeys on another tough day at the Singapore Island Country Club for a slim lead over Thailand’s Pannarat Thanapunboonyarat, who fired a 71 after an opening 74.
Ababa, who shot a dismal 78 in the first round, had five birdies to negate her missed green bogeys on Nos. 9 and 11 and move back into contention in the 54-hole tournament at 147.
Princess Superal also rebounded with a 72 after a 77 and the reigning Melaka and Malaysian Juniors champion now stands five shots off Ardina.
Taiwan Amateurs and the Penang Open champion Ardina birdied Nos. 6 and 12 and knocked down a 40-foot birdie putt on the 10th. She, however, fumbled with another three-putt bogey on the ninth and failed to save par inside five feet on Nos. 13 and 14.
Ababa went three-under after eight holes but dropped a shot on No. 9 before sinking an eight-foot birdie putt on the 10th. She missed the 11th green and made a bogey but rolled in another eight-footer on the 16th for a 69.
