Angelo Que narrowly misses title in Japan Golf Tour, bags P3.6 million prize for second place

    Jun 29, 2015

ANGELO Que came up with his best finish in the Japan Golf Tour, taking second after being edged by Toshinori Muto in a playoff for the title in the Handa Global Cup on Sunday.

The Filipino shotmaker matched the day’s best 64, a bogey-free seven-under par round at Vintage Golf Cub in Hokuto, Yamanashi.

He sank three birdies in the final five holes to finish at 14-under 270 and force the playoff.

Muto wound up with the title with birdie on the playoff as Que settled for par. Still, it was a feat that drew praise from the Asian Tour, where Que is a three-time winner.

The local bet Muto bagged ¥20,000,000 (about P7.34 million) from the ¥100,000,000 event, while Que still got a huge piece of the pot with about P3.6 million for second prize.

It was a huge finish for Que, who had earlier rounds of 70-68-68.
