FOCUS is on titleholder Angelo Que as the Philippine Golf Tour season starts with the P3.5 million Anvaya Cove Invitational on Wednesday in Morong, Bataan.
Que set a course-record bogey-free eight-under 64 in the final round to win last year in the inaugural event at Anvaya Cove Golf and Sports Club.
Philippine Open winner Miguel Tabuena, the top money earner on the domestic tour last season, is also seeing action in the 72-hole championship.
Former top money earner Tony Lascuña, Jay Bayron, Cassius Casas, Elmer Salvador, Orlan Sumcad, Frankie Minoza and Mars Pucay and 15 foreign bets are also battling for the top prize of P650,000 in the tournament backed by International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
Clyde Mondilla, a former PGT winner, and Keanu Jahns head the bumper crop of young guns out to steal the show from the veterans while Q-School topnotcher Toru Nakajima of Japan leads the foreign challenge along with Australia’s Kevin Marques, Koreans Seok Jun Min, Park Jun Hyeok and Kim In Jae, Canada’s Rick Gibson and John Jackson of the US in the event organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and backed by Adidas, TaylorMade, Pacsports Phils., Custom Clubmakers, KZG, Sharp and Anvaya Cove Golf and Sports Club.
