FOCUS will be on debuting pro Cyna Rodriguez as the ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour third leg tees off Wednesday at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Rodriguez, who held the final round lead in the first leg before Dottie Ardina took charge and won The Country Club in Laguna, battles a talented field featuring fellow former Philippine Ladies Open champion Jayvie Agojo.
The 21-year-old Rodriguez won titles in Sacramento and Long Beach last month and reached the match play phase of the recent US Women's Amateur.
Ardina is not seeing action after winning the first two legs of the series as she bids for an LPGA Tour card.
Also vying for honors in the 54-hole event offering a top prize of P100,000 are Anya Tanpinco, Sarah Ababa, Lovelynn Guioguio, Tracy Que and Apple Fudolin
Agojo is raring to improve on her fifth-place finishes in the first two legs, hoping for a big start for the needed momentum.
Philippine Ladies Open winners Mary Grace Estuesta and Heidi Chua, Eva Minoza, Sylvia Torres, Lina de Guzman, Marjorie Pulumbarit, Jan Punzalan, Barsy Leonen and former jungolf star Reb Bareng are also seeing action in the P500,000 event sponsored by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.
The Eagle Ridge leg, backed by Nike Golf, Pacsports, Gatorade, Sharp and Custom Clubmakers, was originally scheduled last week but was washed out by Typhoon Maring.
Next after the Eagle Ridge stage is the ICTSI Wack Wack LPGT set Sept. 10 to 12 before the circuit winds up in Baguio for the ICTSI Camp John Hay LPGT from Oct. 29 to 31.
