ALESSANDRA Christine "Ella" Nagayo ruled her class in the 2019 MJT Ontario Series Canada Day Classic at Tarandowah Golfers Club in Toronto while her younger brother Daniel also took a podium finish.
Ella, a 15-year old Dabawenya who has moved to Canada after three years in Australia, fired a 36-hole total of 163 to top the 15-18 years old girls category.
Nagayo, daughter of former city councilor and now labor attache for the Philippine government based in Canada, fired a 79 in the closing round at the 5470-yard course.
Jillian Friyia of Ontario, 14, finished second after rounds of 82-82, while 17-year-old Grace Halcrow also of Ontario finished third with a 175 on rounds of 85-90.
The 13-year old Daniel also came through with an impressive work in the tough Bantam Boys Under 15 category with a third place finish at Tarandowah.
Daniel fired rounds of 88-83 for a 171 behind Andreas Diogenous who shot 76-73 for a 149 aggregate, and Sai Kaja, who finished with a 163 after shooting 79-84.
