THE City government of Muntinlupa on Monday ordered Alabang Country Club to cease golf operations for alleged violations of quarantine regulations.
The group composed of representatives from the Games and Amusement Board, Philippine Sports Commission, and the Department of Health, which oversees sports organizations’ activities during the pandemic, earlier this month learned that a sub-group of the Alabang Country Club held a tournament on Aug. 29.
The Philippine National Police also conducted an investigation and the Department of Interior and Local Government issued the directive for the city government to look into the matter.
"... finding probable cause that there was indeed violation of safety and health protocols warraning the suspension of the business permitissued in your favor, the City Government of Muntinlupa hereby orders yout to immediately stop the operations of the golf course," Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said in the written directive addressed to ACC general manager Carla Maramara.
Meanwhile, Sherwood Hills in Trece Martirez in Cavite has been given the green light to resume operations a week after being ordered to shut down following a tournament that violated government’s violated quarantine rules on mass gatherings and the holding of non-professional athletic meets.
Cavite governor Jonvic Remulla signed the executive order, allowing Sherwood to open its gates to golfers starting on Tuesday.
