IS THERE anything Maxine Esteban can't do?
From competing in the Paris Olympics, to securing a rank 27th global standing in the world of fencing, to achieving summa cum laude honors at the University of Pennsylvania, it seems Esteban is a real-life five star character in a gacha video game.
And speaking about video games, did you know that Maxine likewise has another badge in her resume?
It turns out that the Olympic fencer has achieved a Mythic Glory rank in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and an Immortal Rank in Dota 2. She even attended the very first day of the MPL Philippines Season 14.
In an interview with the press, Esteban revealed how she ended up entering the Land of Dawn.

Maxine is a mage/support user
"I saw my (younger) sister playing tapos nagselos ako kasi wala siyang time mag-spend time with me. So I was like, 'I'll play na nga.' So I played with her and she taught me, and from then she spent more time with me," she started.
Within a span of a month, Maxine grinded her way to reach the top ranks of Mobile Legends. She even revealed that she spends her down times during training to play the game.
"I started playing noong start of the season so last month, and we play it during break from training and it has been a good stress reliever from training," said Esteban.
As for her comfort heroes? The Olympic fencer revealed that she relishes playing midlane and roam heroes.
"I like playing mga mages like Vexana or Nana, and for support naman I like Franco or Estes."

How Maxine ended up playing Dota?
And as mentioned earlier, Esteban is also a Dota 2 player, and just like in her case with Mobile Legends, a family member encouraged her to play.
"Before I used to play Dota with my dad, he taught me how to play Dota during the pandemic, and everyday kaming naglalaro hanggang 5 am," she recounted.
"Siya laging nag-i-invite sa akin maglaro and he's a very cool dad."
However things changed when she moved abroad. In need of time to spend with her family, this was the moment when Esteban decided to make the shift to MLBB.
"When I was in Germany, it was hard for me to bring my whole computer and play with him, so I downloaded Mobile Legends to spend time with my family also."

Will Maxine end up as a pro player?
Being able to play the two MOBAs, Esteban shared her thoughts on her overall experience. There's a huge contrast between the two games where Esteban explained her thoughts on MLBB saying: "It was so fast compared to Dota...and that's one of the things I liked about it and it was very exciting to play."
And that level of excitement was something that consumer her in her MPL Season 14 experience.
"It was very nice and it was my first live game that I've watched. The arena was very nice and it was very overwhelming to be there, and exciting to meet the players as well."
Seeing the spectacle known as the MPL, will this lead to doors for Esteban? Here's what she hinted.
"They were so supportive and it makes me want to be a professional gamer," she reflected.
